Funny Uses for a Golf Club
This article seeks to make fun of the humble Golf club as some players have taken to using the Golf club as a weapon of death and destruction. It should not be taken seriously and is intended to offer uses for frustrated golf players.
With golf catching on in high schools, inner cities, and the family based mini putt, all over the United States the time has come to appreciate the game of Golf.
At the same time, many players (and maybe the wives of players) struggle with the skill and understanding, needed to master this game. It can become a passion that is testing to the impatient. Lets look at other, lesser-known uses for the Golf clubs:
The home security device
The muscles used for swinging a golf club could be used to act as defense against home invasion, however keeping mind, that you may do more damage to your own belongings and yourself, rather than the intruder. Not recommended for those with fitted ceiling fans.
Children’s Amusement
Imaging if you have children that have become board with the high tech video games. These are the same games that create a little moving, couch-based life. Give them a Golf club each and many over ripe oranges and you have a source of free entertainment. On the side of caution, this idea would most likely be applied by a father, and could result in mess to clean up afterwards and possibly a screaming wife. Also should only be done outside.
Teaching your Cat
If you have even owned a cat, you will know that at times, they like to please the owner be showing how they are a great hunter. This results in the loud meow and the discovery of a dead bird or mouse. In most cases, this would need the owner to handle the almost dead creature. Never again, now take that, Golf club and send the dying creature to its next life- by airmail!
Need fitness but don’t want to pay Gym fees?
A golf club would also make an inexpensive weed wacker for your lawn and the process of removing weeds with your golf club can also act as your exercise for the day. It all rolls together into one nice little package if you really let your mind go. At the same time a firm Grip would be needed on the club.
House Maintenance
You can use it to remove that nasty hornet’s nest from under your roof although you may want to wear long sleeves for that. It can also be handy at removing icicles from your roof as well but this requires some caution if moving above the ground.
There are many users for that high priced set of clubs sitting in the back of the garage. Put them to use before your wife or partner decides they were a bad idea, and sells them to make room for other storage items.

How to Choose Women’s Golf Club Sets
In this age of sexual equality and female empowerment more and more women are playing the kinds of sports that were once only made available to men.
Annika Sorenstam for example ushered in a surge of recognition for female pro-golfers throughout the world, all of whom require the necessary sports apparel with which to compete. Most enthusiasts insist the proper clubs can either make or break a person’s game even if your skill level more closely resembles that of a hobbiest. So go to a store that has a professional golf club fitter who knows what they’re doing.
Here are some questions to ask your professional fitter…
Grip is determined by the size of your hands, and is the most inexpensive consideration when choosing a set of clubs. Grips have a tendency to harden, get slick, oxidize, and loosen their hold as time goes on.
The best grips have greater normal longevity, but not necessarily the highest absolute grip factor which means that even if you don’t change your grip regularly they should still hold fast. It is recommended that you change your grip from time to time even if you don’t notice a problem.
Compared to a car for instance that needs a tire change, grips should be changed every 3,000 rounds or six months.
The next thing to consider is length, which is an important factor to consider concerning both comfort and swing momentum.
Generally speaking the longer the club the farther the ball will travel, however longer clubs are often more difficult to control. My advice for beginners is to find the right length proportionate to your height by measuring the distance between your wrist and the ground when in astride position.
One last element is the flex of your set. Stiffer shafts are usually better for stronger hitting golfers, so go ahead and have a professional assess the strength of your swing.
Remember that buying expensive equipment does not guarantee your skills will improve - It just means paying a lot more money than is necessary. Make sure to do your research, and go to a customer/wallet friendly store where you can try a few different brands until you find the best fit.

Hit the Driving Range Before the Green
Are you new to golfing and want to practice your swing before hitting the greens? Most golf courses have driving ranges for you to get comfortable with your game before teeing off on the course. Even if you aren’t new to golfing maybe you want to try a new technique or need to get comfortable with some new equipment. The driving range is the practice ground to accomplish this.
Don’t wait until you’re out on the green to try out a new technique or equipment. You’re sure to not only loose the match but you might have some embarrassing shots into the woods or water. There are many new techniques and an experienced golfer will tell you it never hurts to try out new grips, clubs, stances, etc. but failed attempts and muffed shots on the green will only make you lose faith in the technique or equipment. Perfect (or at least get comfortable with) your game at the driving range before it “counts”.
If you’ve never been to a driving range then you’ll be pleasantly surprised especially if you’re just starting off with golf. It’s a parcel of land set aside for practicing with balls usually provided by the course so you don’t have to continually chase around your golf balls. There are several stations for practicing and there’s usually several other golfers of varying degrees of experience. Don’t feel embarrassed or intimidated. The driving range is a place to practice so don’t worry about what other golfers think; they are concentrating on their swing and techniques.
If you talk to golfers about their practice at the driving range, they all have their own way of “warming up”. One school of thought is to start with your smaller clubs such as your pitching wedge, progress to the larger clubs and then finish up with your woods. Others do just the opposite and start with their drivers and woods and then work their way down to the pitching and sand wedge. Yet another method is to simply practice with the clubs you know you have trouble with. Try different methods until you find the one that works best for you.
Beyond just warming up, the driving range is the best place to try out a new tip. There are always new tips, partly due to marketing of golf videos and equipment. In any case, new golf tips can be beneficial to your game and the only way to know is to try them out before you hit the green.
So before you get out on the green, try out new techniques and equipment on the driving range. It will make a huge difference for when your shots “count”.
You Can Learn From Free Golf Swing Videos
How would you like to save money and improve your golf swing with free golf swing videos? If you search on line you will find a lot of resources but you will probably have to pay for them. It used to be easier several years ago because the internet was designed to share free information - until the advent of internet marketing. So where can you find quality free information on line? Read on and I will reveal all.
My business is to source free golf tips and golf tips for beginners, so I came up with a website where you can learn from free golf videos. The videos come into my site from YouTube but I have a better filtering script so you get better themed results. At the golf swing section of the site, for example, you will see the top 25 or so most relevant golf swing videos.
You will find on the golf swing page about 25 videos dealing with the golf swing. There are many videos about the Tiger Woods golf swing - everything from slow motion analysis to examples of the dynamics of his swing. You will also see other famous names like the Ben Hogan golf swing and Tom Watson’s secrets to the golf swing. For the more technically minded golfer, there are videos on the biomechanics of the golf swing.
A video of Tiger’s swing called “Tiger Woods Golf Swing Critiqued” is interpreted by the Live @ Guys from the 2008 Buick Invitational. In this slow motion video, Tiger is on a par-3 using a short iron which gives another perspective of his swing. It is a good example of short iron play which many golfers could learn from - unlike the videos of Tiger using a driver, which I don’t think many golfers should even attempt to copy!
One of the classic videos of Tiger’s golf swing is critiqued in this video; “Tiger Woods & Bob Toski - analysis of Tiger’s golf swing.” This seven minute video shows several versions and angles of his swing with a driver. There is great narrative all the way through that really explains what is going on with the different parts of his golf swing. The slow motion parts are particularly revealing as they are frames are paused to let you see the position of his club and different parts of his body throughout the swing.
The free golf swing videos on the homepage just scratch the surface; you can use the search box to find thousands of online golf videos. Maybe you like the old timers like Ben Hogan; well, you will find some absolutely classic videos of Hogan. From old black & white films to newer color videos, you will be able to see the Hogan golf swing in all the details that you can imagine.
Of course, one of the most useful benefits of having these free golf videos at your disposal, is the ability to search for specific areas of the golf swing that you need to work on. If you need help with your grip, stance, setup, or full swing you will find a video to help you. You could also search for one of the famous golf gurus like Butch Harmon or David Leadbetter to see which swing instruction videos they have available to watch.
So, before going out to spend a fortune on golf lessons, why not browse the free golf swing videos. It is a great resource for any golfer who wants to find free golf tips and videos. You can learn a lot from these videos or you could search for great golfing moments from history for a bit of entertainment. A Guided Tour Of Two Hundred Bunkers
If you have heard of the name Jack Nicklaus then you’ll probably know something about golf. I play golf, well, more accurately I occasionally hit a small white ball with a big stick, and sometimes the ball goes in the right direction, and sometimes it doesn’t. The difference between Jack Nicklaus and myself is that he hits the ball more often, and it tends to go where he intends it to more often than me. Oh, and of course, he’s been voted Golfer of the Millennium, and I’m still waiting to hear.
Besides being a world champion golfer and ambassador for the sport, Jack is well known for being an excellent designer of golf courses, and has recently become introduced to a new audience through his recent television adverts for Polaris. Whether or not you’re interested in buying property overseas, if you’re a golfer like me, or perhaps a slightly better one, then what Jack has done over there might well be of interest. Believe it or not, he has designed nine new golf courses specifically for one resort! That’s a staggering 162 holes in the ground for me to miss. On the upside, that also probably means a good couple of hundred sandy bunkers for me to become horribly familiar with too.
I wasn’t really thinking about overseas property myself, although I can’t say why. Like most people I think it’s just one of those things that other people do isn’t it? Those neighbours of yours that live two doors down and always seem to be off somewhere and even in the middle of winter they have deep rich tans that you pretend not to notice and secretly resent. They always seem happy too. Damn those neighbours. But what got me interested was the whole of idea of having nine new golf courses all nestled near each other. That sounds like any golfer’s heaven, whether your professional or an amateur. I class myself as an amateur personally. Some people don’t even think I have made it that far, but then everyone’s a critic.
This country isn’t quite like Spain, where apparently it rains mainly on the plains. In this country it rains mainly on the land, and as a result playing golf is a bit like water polo. You dress up in smart, sometimes oddball outfits, but at least clean. Unlike the television broadcasts of world class golfers playing in endless sunshine wearing t-shirts and sporting tans and big grins, playing golf over here is more like wading through mud and searching for your ball that has sunk to the bottom of another puddle.
So I have started thinking about the idea of moving to Spain and becoming a part of the lifestyle and culture we see advertised on television. I can’t just be me that thinks that the idea of walking down the steps from my stylish apartment, casually looking out to see to watch the cruise ships roll by whilst trying to decide which of the nine golf courses to play today, sounds like a good way to live life. What is also tempting me at the moment is that many of these overseas companies are offering free trips, so that you can see for yourself what it’s like. Apparently they’ll even let you play a round of golf. I feel less white just thinking about it.
One of the things that has surprised me most recently is the price of these overseas property. I always imagine that they were really expensive, especially when you consider the added bonuses like the scenery, the quiet, the views, the weather and the nine golf courses. Yet when I saw the prices advertised, I could afford to sell my house here and buy a really classy villa over there with its own pool, views and more golf than I could shake a stick at.
The properties being advertised look fantastic. Of course, almost anywhere looks fantastic if you shove it next to a glorious mountain range, make sure you have a deep blue ocean twinkling excitedly on the other side and bathe the whole lot in an absurd amount of sunshine, but then, that’s the actual location you can expect to live in if you take the plunge. It’s certainly very tempting, and the more I think about it, the more I start to picture myself there. I see myself waking up in the morning with the white cotton curtains fluttering gaily in the cool morning breeze as I dance towards the windows and look out across another world. I don’t tend to dance much in the morning; I sort of lurch about a bit and stagger in a confused daze, but somehow I see myself dancing in Spain. It’s funny how a little thing like sunshine and sea can change you.
I’m certainly very tempted to consider the idea of a free trip - after all, I have nothing to lose. I may even find that the more clement weather improves my golfing game. Perhaps I may even meet old Jack and challenge him to a round. The only thing that puts me off is the hassle, but then, it’s only once, and the satisfaction of having made it will be more than worth it. The adverts are certainly targeting this country a great deal, and it sounds as though they know what they’re doing. Like many people, I work from home which means that relocating means little more than moving all my gear. Except for my winter clothes; I won’t need them any more of course!
Maintain your Humidor or else
Cuban cigars are something that you can store for a while (Up to 15 years) or you can enjoy them at a single sitting. If you buy in large quantities like most cigar buyers, than in order for you to enjoy them for a long time, you must not only get a humidor, but also learn about proper humidor management. You see, although a Cuban cigar can be aged for 15 years (The taste is phenomenal) but if exposed to nature’s fury, you might not even be able to smoke it the next day. Proper care can only take place by placing your cigars in a humidor and than taking care of that humidor.
The most important thing is the humidity level that your cigars must be stored at and making sure your humidor can maintain that level. It should be stored between seventy to seventy five degrees fahrenheit. Anything higher or lower than that will not work at all. 70 to 75 degrees is the temperature in Cuba, ideal for Cuban cigars. I guess you can say that little humidor of yours is like little personal Cuba. A nice thought to entertain, I certainly think like that and an attitude like that will make you take care of your Cuban cigars too.
You should have a good thermometer and hygrometer in the area in order to make sure that it is kept at the proper levels at all times. There are some electronic versions of these instruments that you can buy which can be monitored remotely. In fact, you can be sitting in your easy chair and monitoring the temperature of your cigar humidor at the same time. If you notice a wild variation in one of the numbers, make sure that you take action right away as your cigars could be affected quite quickly. Of course, you will also want to make sure that you keep it out of the direct sunlight.
Humidor do require charging too, never forget that. This is an essential part on making sure your humidor stays in business. It is fairly easy to charge it as all you have to do is add a solution to it every month or so. This activation phase involves several steps too so make sure you have read the instructions first. Now I like to test things out before I take action, so that should be your next step. Get a cheap cigar from somewhere and see what is going on or you can just do it without one. If anything happens, just make the changes, which are fairly simple in most cases and go from there.
Taking good care of your humidor is just one way of taking good care of your cigars. If you are in the habit of buying fine cigars, make sure that you are able to enjoy each and every one of them. Store your cigars properly and they will last you for quite some time until you are able to kick back and watch them go up in smoke.
Free Golf Tips For Beginners For Gripping The Club
The golf grip is fundamental to having a good swing, so here is how to get a good golf grip with these free golf tips for beginners. The more experienced golfer should also find these golf tips useful if you want to re-examine your grip. By understanding the description of the nine different grips you will be able to identify any swing faults you may have, such as a slice, and be able to fix it.
There are three basic types of grip; the overlapping grip, the interlocking grip and the ten finger grip (or baseball grip.) Each grip has three variations in relation to the grip angle; distance, neutral, and control. There are also three variations with regards to grip strengths; a weak, strong, or neutral grip. You have to find the grip that suits you and that you are comfortable with - a lot will depend on your strength, hand size, finger length, and what you want to do with the ball.
The Three Grip Styles
The baseball grip is not used by many golfers because the overlapping or interlocking grips are far more adaptable. It is a grip that gives you good leverage but the problem is that it produces less club head speed which translates into less distance. Some beginners, children or women use this grip but I would recommend they either of the other two grips.
If you have larger hands or longer fingers try the overlapping grip which is considered by many professionals as the best grip to unify your hands. This grip is not good for people with short fingers as they tend to place their right hand too far over or under the club when trying to get comfortable.
The interlocking grip is when the pinkie of the right hand interlocks with the index finger of the left hand. It is used by golfers with small hands or fingers; just be careful of gripping the club in the palm of your right hand as it should be a finger only grip.
3 Grip Angles
For maximum wrist flexibility, use the distance grip which will create more distance and more sensitivity. To take advantage of this grip you will need more strength and skill to keep a square club head through impact. The position of the grip is across the base of the fingers of the left hand, starting from the base of the index finger to the pad at the base of the little finger.
The best grip angle for most golfers will be the neutral grip. The grip now runs diagonally from the base of the index finger to a point between the heel pad of your palm and the pad at the base of the little finger. This grip is a good option between distance and control because you have the most flexibility in shot making.
The third type of grip angle you could try is the control grip. The club runs on a more diagonal line from the base of your index finger to the top of your heel pad. With this grip you will have maximum control for more accuracy but with less flexibility in the wrists you will get less distance.
Grip Strengths
If you want to reduce slicing then try the strong grip which is also good for distance but you won’t be able to fade the ball. With this grip you have to rotate your hands so that you will see the “V” made between thumb and forefinger pointing towards your right shoulder. Also, find the hollow between the two tendons in the wrist directly above your thumb and you will see that it is lined up with the right side of your club shaft.
The neutral strength grip is the ideal grip for the majority of golfers. With this grip you can draw the ball or fade the ball easily. It requires a bit more strength to square the club at impact. This time, the “V” should be pointing towards your right ear and the point of your wrist that I mentioned before will line up with the center of your shaft.
The weak grip is when the point in your wrist is lined up with the left side of your shaft and the “V” points to your chin. This grip can be used to eliminate hooking the ball but you won’t be able to hit a controlled draw. It also requires more strength to square the club at impact.
In Summary
Hopefully, these free golf tips for beginners will help you grip the club correctly. No matter what grip you use, just remember that the palms of your hands will always face each other. The right hand is known as a fingers only grip and the left hand is a palm and fingers grip. Most important is to leave half an inch of the grip protruding beyond your left hand. Lastly, you should grip the club firmly and constantly throughout the entire golf swing and your hands should fit snugly together and feel unified.
