Drawbacks Of Playing Golf

by Amarea Fulkakis

Whether you care to admit it or not, golf is a very attention-grabbing sport. It has lured its own share of fanatics and critics. There are those who support it because of the supposed perks it offers while others are assailing it for the drawback it entails. Right now, if you are still in doubt on which side to lean towards, here is an interesting list of drawbacks that may make you want to conduct a very thorough cost-benefit analysis.

The first and most obvious disadvantage in playing golf is the exorbitant fees involved. It requires that you have a very deep bank account because you need it to pay for the golf club membership, buy the expensive clubs, and pay the trainer, caddy and the use of the cart. If you are an ordinary person trying to become a master or a professional of this sport, you must have the courage to pursue your passion. You must improve your skills so that sponsors can notice you and take you under their wings. If not, you will just be left in the wayside.

Moreover, this is definitely not something for the feeble minded because it is more than just a physical game. It really requires mental concentration and careful analysis. One needs intellectual skills to evaluate whether the condition is perfect for teeing or not.

Second, playing golf does not really contribute much to one’s physical activities. When compared to other sports, it is very low impact. Hitting the balls does not burn many calories. It is also interesting to note that most golfers do not walk as they transfer from one hole to another. They prefer taking it easy and riding their golf carts. They also lose the benefit of improving their upper body strength when they allow their caddies to carry their clubs and other equipments.

If you want to lose weight, improve your flexibility or tone your body, this is not a good choice to even make the shortlist. You are better off finding another sport to be involved in.

Third, playing golf will make you an indirect destroyer of the natural flora of the environment. Have you ever seen an unruly fairway in your entire life? Of course not! The greenery is maintained so that the grasses would look and feel perfect for the select few who are playing the game. Every day, fountains are turned on using thousand of liters of water to maintain the place in its impeccable form. Sprinkling a valuable resource such as water purely for aesthetic purposes surely reeks of elitism and complete disregard for Mother Nature.

The wide expanse of land that is used to make a nine hole golf course is simply a waste of resources. If you double this figure for 18-hole golf course, that amounts to a big space that could have been used for other more meaningful purposes. It is not a very feasible plan to implement especially with the increasing number of people living in shanties.

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen! Hopefully, this article would make you realize that golf is unlike any other sport. Be careful before making a decision so that you will not feel guilty later on.

The Golf Gear You Can’t Live Without

by Tim Sanders

So you have finally bought that brand new spanking set of golf clubs. You are raring to go out to the course and strut your stuff. But wait, are we forgetting something? Oh right; you need something to fit your golf clubs in! Now you are not going to hand carry all your golf clubs around the course are you?

There are a variety of golf travel cases you can choose from when it comes to fitting your golf clubs in. Choosing the right one for you is important because buying a golf bag that is ill-fitted for your golf gear could mean possible damage to it if you have problems fitting them in. Or it might get knocked around easily. So what kind of golf bags should you look for to ensure that this doesn’t happen?

There are many brands you can choose from when it comes to golf travel cases. If you have the money and have just bought some pretty expensive golf gear, then you might want to invest in something that has lots of room space and especially sturdy. Most golf-stores would have these in stock and you can ask the salesperson for a hard-sided golf travel case. These golf bags pack plenty of space and can hold up against rough handling (don’t go out of your way to test that though!). Even in airports where your luggage may be thrown about pretty roughly, it can still take withstand quite a lot of pressure.

For those of you who are just casual golfers and have the standard golf clubs set, then investing in something cheaper would make sense. You don’t need a hardcore super expensive golf travel case, but something that holds enough space for all your golf clubs and accessories (this is an important point most golfers gloss over). The soft-sided golf travel cases will work just fine. Take note though, they are not as resilient when it comes to standing up against hard knocks. So be extra careful when carrying your golf bag around.

So there you have it, some quick tips and information you can use the next time you are out shopping for golf travel cases. Remember that there is no one golf bag that will meet every golfers needs. Assess your requirements and then select the most suitable golf bag for yourself.

First off, there are a huge variety of brands you can choose from when it comes to golf travel cases. If you have the budget and are carrying expensive golf gear, then you definitely want to invest in something that has lots of room space and especially sturdy. Even in airports where your luggage may be thrown about pretty roughly, it can still take quite a beating.

Why Clone Golf Clubs Make Sense For Your Game

by Mark Walters

Back in the day there was a saying in golf you cant buy a better game meaning getting good at golf took application and practice. The game improvement features of modern clubs though really does allow you to buy a better game.

The average club amateur needs as much assistance he or she can get from their golf clubs. The size and design of the clubheads. The playing specifications of the shafts. The material and size of the grips. All these add up to make a golf club which is playable and consistent.

We all have individual swings. We all setup to the ball differently. We all hit the ball differently. There isn’t one golf club to fit all swings. that’s where Clone Golf Clubs can help.

Quality Clone Golf Clubs aren’t some cheap fakes of Taylormade or Mizuno for example. These are custom built clubs which stand on their own merits and can go a long way to lowering your handicap. These are quality clubs built with top of the range shafts and grips. The same components as you’ll find in the big OEM’s.

Offset drivers or irons with cavity backs aren’t copyrighted designs. These designs find their way into modern golf clubs by all the major manufacturers, including the main manufacturers of clone golf clubs.

Some people might argue that the quality of these clubs is low, that they use low quality raw materials. Well, Ive got some news for them. Titanium of the type used in driver heads for example sells for around $3 a kilo. that’s about five drivers worth. Why use a low quality material when for $3 you have enough Titanium for 5 driver heads?

Some people would maintain that the tolerances on clone golf clubs aren’t as high as the main club manufacturers. Again, Id have to disagree. Cast clubs are produced from a mould and its precisely the same cost to cast from a high quality mould as it is from one with low tolerances.

Mr. Woods uses top of the range golf clubs. No doubt about that one. They’re not stock clubs though. These are clubs custom to his precise specifications. The lie angles of the clubs, the shaft flex and torque, the length. All the parameters of his clubs are finely tuned to his particular game.

The only golf clubs that will work for your game are clubs that have been custom fit to make the most of your own swing characteristics. Your height, your swing speed, your natural ball flight. To play your best golf consistently, you need to fit your clubs to your swing, not the other way round. A high price tag doesnt enter into the equation. You’ll see more improvement from using a set of custom clone golf clubs than from spending 1000’s of dollars on a set of off-the-rack clubs.

Remove Stress from a Reflexology Foot Massage with Massage Chairs

by Barbara Netwon

Ever come home with a little stress or anxiety? The constant pressures of work and home life can cause a build up of stress and anxiety in the body. Perhaps you have had the pleasure of having a foot massage? A foot reflexology does more than just make your feet feel better. In fact, foot reflexology massage is thought to alleviate many ailments including back pain, stress and headaches. Get daily stress and anxiety relief with a Foot Reflexology massage with a massage chair.

The art of reflexology has advanced with modern technology. From the beginning of time, people practiced massage therapy. Many ancient societies noticed that there were correlations between applying pressure on the feet in hands and relief of discomfort in certain organs. By applying pressure in certain areas of the feet, pain and discomfort was relieved in other parts of the body. These areas have been thoroughly mapped and now they are known as reflexology points.

At the turn of the 20th century foot reflexology was more thoroughly studied. This resulted in studying the correlations between pressure points and inducing relief in particular parts of the body. It is interesting that we put pressure on our feet all day and they end up being the gateway to relaxing the rest of the body. Foot reflexology has been found to be most effective when performed with frequency to release built up pressures.

Reflexology helps to reverse the process started by the nervous system. When we are under pressure, most of the time it is mental. We think this is the end of the world and then our body gets nervous and worked up, but our body does not physically have to do anything. Stress from physical harm is the reaction that gets the body all worked up. This stress helps the body prepare for physical action. Mental stress is like a false alarm for the body to prepare for a fight. This stress works the body up and foot reflexology on the other hand works the body back down.

Now with the advance of technology, effective reflexology massages are being integrated into the premier massage chair brands. Companies like Panasonic, Omega among others have developed technology providing foot reflexology massage. The Panasonic EP30004 Real Pro Ultra Massage Chair or the Omega Montage Premier massage chair both incorporate foot reflexology massage. These massage chair recliners can provide daily relief of built up tension and anxiety.

One of the critical discoveries by Dr. Fitzgerald was that reflexology massage had many healing benefits when an individual received continuous, periodic treatments. He found that just doing a sporadic reflexology massage did not have the same results as patients that received the treatment on a recurring basis. The build up of stress is a continuous process and the relief of such build up must also be continuous. This is a critical distinction with parallels to many types of health issues like diet and exercise which need to be on a continuous basis.

If you have stress and built up anxiety, get a massage chair recliner to counteract the stress build up. The best massage chairs have full body massage capability along with foot reflexology massage. These chairs can provide the perfect way to reduce these tensions on a frequent basis. Besides just making your feet feel good after a hard day, a foot reflexology massage induces stress relief and total relaxation. Reduce your stress with the touch of a button on a massage chair.

Golf Tips for Improving Golfers - Hitting the Ball Forward

by Mike Jackson

As a dedicated golfer, I find nothing annoys me more than thinking I’ve played a shot well, only to see it drifting way off target. Even more irritating than that is that I often think I’ve played the shot exactly the way I have before when it worked well.

That’s where you - like me - will benefit from some advice from a professional golfer. I’ve had many lessons over the past few years, and I’m passing on some of the wisdom that I’ve learned in a series of articles. Starting with the most important lesson - keep the ball moving the right way.

I learned very early on from my professional golf coach that perfect technique is unlikely to be attainable by all but the most dedicated / most naturally gifted of golfers. Many amateurs obsess over keeping their left arm (for right handed players) straight in the backswing, having their fingers in exactly the right grip position etc.

But above all this, if you can hit the ball the right way - ie forwards and towards the green - perfect technique is almost irrelevant to how well you’ll play the game. My coach demonstrated the truth of this to me.

He took the club back in a swing that would make any amateur blush, even letting go of the club at the top of the swing. However, when he hit the ball, it travelled in the direction he was aiming, not especially quickly, but was definitely on target.

What this proved to me was that the key to any golf shot is what happens at the moment of impact of the club head on the ball. If you can get that bit right, you’ll always be able to send the ball the right way towards the green.

Of course, having better control of the backswing, the grip, stance and other things, will enable you to get more power into your shots, which will help to send the ball further. But club selection is also a key here, to get the right length on the shot.

Fundamentally, though, the aim of the game is to get a little white ball from a little wooden / plastic tee, all the way to a little hole which may be several hundred yards away from where you start. If you can keep that ball heading in the right direction, like me, you’ll find your game improving and can start working on the other aspects over time.

Want to Turn Your Amateurish Golf Swing Into a Top Class Pro Act?

by Harry Constantine

1. Get more distance by passing the pole.

You should make use of a proper weight shift if you desire maximum consistency and distance. There is a pole planted into the ground and the ball is resting on it at its address. Now you need to place your left shoulder just behind the ball without even a slight sway of the hips.

When you are in a position like this, it is considered as ideal for initiating the downswing. When you do the follow through, the right shoulder of yours has to shift past the imaginary pole and the golf ball. If you are able to do all these properly, you can perform weight shifts and good turns equally well.

2. You should remember the practice area

Do you know the importance of the practice area? Any professional golf player who wishes to win the tournament will check out the practice area before moving on to the first tee. Surely, I don’t need to repeat that you too should do the same if you have an iota of seriousness in you. Now don’t start worrying how you strike the ball in the practice area.

Rather use the practice area to loosen your muscles and for warming up your body. Then when you become ready to hit, you have to start off with a wedge. Then slowly you have to work your way down till you reach the driver. Again, when you finish off, you have to use a few wedges again.

You may also feel all these are unnecessary but do you know, these promote a good feel and tempo, they can prevent you from getting injured and you can strike the ball with perfection as well.

When you start to widen your stance further and further as many other amateur golfers do, it increases stability on the one hand and on the other hand generates a lateral movement which can result in an involuntary swing. You can acquire an improved swing stance by doing the barrel drill.

You should start off with an approximate stance that must be shoulder width apart. Then you have to swing the club in such a manner that if there were two poles planted on each side of you just beside your shoes, you would never touch the poles. For this you need to do a full turn. Then you have to envisage yourself swinging in a barrel and this will ensure low scores.

Watch A Golf Video And Get That Perfect Swing

by Susan Kraiser

Our age of technology presents the world in a more visual and accessible manner. Everything can be known from the click of a mouse. As people initially learn by mimicry, they tend to refer videos to see how to do a certain thing in a particular manner which is comfortable to them and they may pause at one moment, rewind and focus more on the images.

As golf is a popular leisure activity all over the world, a plethora of online golf lessons and videos has swarmed the internet by showing different ways of achieving golf swing improvement. Golf is a sport that has a lot of room for improvement as golfers are continuously trying to perfect their swing. People who are new to the sport first get thoroughly oriented with the basics such as golf swing fundamentals and instructions before they actually get the feel of striking a golf ball with their raw natural golf swing.

Amateur golfers first get thoroughly oriented with the basics such as golf swing fundamentals and golf swing instructions before they actually test their natural golf swing. As first-timers, they usually use golf swing training aids such as golf swing trainers to guide them in their game. But what is most helpful is a good golf swing video for ease of swing and better performance.

Studying golf swing through online instructional videos actually helps your game. So how exactly instructional golf videos help you?

Watch how a golfer swings thoroughly with an ease of access and the power to rewind and replay of your golf video. You no longer need to ask your instructor repeatedly, just so you’ll learn perfectly. You have absolute control of your manner of learning so you can probably assure yourself that you’ll be learning pretty well.

When you watch your instructor demonstrate how to swing your clubs live, you can’t study how he does it thoroughly. Even if he goes slow motion, the moves probably aren’t the same. Watching a golf video allows you to watch how a golfer does it from an observer’s perspective. You get to rewind, pause and fast forward the video to your liking just to see how he gets the effect.

When we associate images with the verbal instructions, we get better recall in our memory. So watching instructional videos for learning has been proven to be psychologically effective.

Our brains process information faster when the way information is related to us is dual that is verbal and visual. We remember how to do something more when we associate images with the words we remember. We thus get to do mimic the actions in the video effectively.

The best part is that you can improve your swing whenever you want as the instructions are right in front of you.

Golf Swing Trainer - Your Key To Improve Your Game

by Pete Bailey

Lots of people struggle with their golf for years trying to reach the next level not realizing the big secret - they need golf swing trainers! Everything else from clubs, understanding the tee, putting etc come later. The three most important words to improving your golf are: swing, swing and swing. Spending time with a good golf swing trainer can even get amateurs playing with confidence and expertise.

The swing trainer teaches you the correct path for the swing that you need in course of golf play. The golfer makes the club swing at a particular angle that has a relation with the metal attachment which denotes the course of the swing; which is adjustable according to the height of the golfer.

The swing trainer perfects your correct swinging action which is the basic requirement when embarking on a proper and dignified game of golf. During training the trainer will select the most appropriate shots and angles in proportion to the golfer’s height to attain consistency in his shots.

Golf swing trainers are experts in biomechanics of the human body and can easily relate this to the required swing in golf. In course of the research and studies by technical experts in this domain, the easily adjustable steel attachment has been discovered, known as Explanar.

Most of today’s golf swing trainers are well versed with the biomechanics of the body and it is their business to know every muscle, ligament and nerve in the human body and react to their various behavior patterns due to their extensive researches in the line. It is from the fruits of such research that emerged the Innovative adjustable steel attachment called EXPLANAR.

The Golf Swing Trainer is instrumental in the golfer repeatedly getting the right path and height and helps attune his muscle movements to the swing angles.

Repeatability and uniformity would give the golfer sufficient self confidence and composure to develop his game. A word of caution though! Irrespective of the different Swing Trainers equipment that are available in the stores, please select the metal one which will stand you in good stead. You can even consider taking a crash course on golf from any number of DVDs available, but, is there substitute for hard work?
